How to convert PDF to Excel
- Select Choose PDF file and add one PDF.
- Choose Structured sheets for table-like content or Extracted data for raw text positions.
- Select Convert to Excel and keep the browser tab open during extraction.
- Wait until the tool validates the generated XLSX workbook.
- Download the Excel file and review the extracted values and layout.
Two ways to extract PDF data
Structured sheets
Groups detected text into visual rows and estimates column positions from the PDF coordinates. Each source page becomes a separate worksheet.
Extracted data
Creates one worksheet containing Page, X, Y, Width, Height, and Text columns. This is useful when a complex layout does not reconstruct cleanly as a table.
Editable spreadsheet values
Extracted content is written into normal Excel cells so you can reorganize, clean, copy, filter, or analyze it after conversion.
Local processing
The selected PDF is processed in your browser instead of being uploaded to a 2PDF2 server for conversion.
Why PDF tables are difficult to convert
A spreadsheet stores data in defined rows, columns, and cells. A PDF usually stores visible text at page coordinates. Lines that look like one table row may actually be many separate text objects, and the PDF may contain no information saying which text belongs to which spreadsheet cell. This tool therefore uses position-based reconstruction rather than claiming that every PDF contains recoverable Excel structure.
Which PDFs work best?
Structured sheets work best with clean digital PDFs containing aligned tables, invoices, statements, schedules, lists, and reports with selectable text. Documents with irregular columns, overlapping objects, rotated text, or complex visual layouts may need manual cleanup after conversion.
Scanned PDFs and OCR
This converter does not perform OCR. If a PDF page is only an image of a scan, there may be no text for the tool to extract. A dedicated OCR process is required before scanned text can be turned into editable spreadsheet values.
What is not recreated automatically?
Excel formulas, charts, pivot tables, macros, original cell formatting, merged-cell definitions, filters, and hidden rows are not present in ordinary PDF page data and therefore cannot be restored automatically by this browser-based converter.

Is the PDF to Excel tool free to use?
Yes. The current 2PDF2 PDF to Excel tool can be used without a paid account.
Is my PDF uploaded to 2PDF2?
The converter processes the selected PDF in your browser and does not intentionally send that PDF to a 2PDF2 server for conversion. Normal webpage requests to third-party services may still occur; see the Privacy Policy for details.
Will the Excel file look exactly like the PDF table?
Not always. Structured sheets estimate rows and columns from text positions. PDFs do not normally store the original Excel cell structure, so complex tables can require cleanup after conversion.
Can the tool restore formulas from a PDF?
No. A PDF normally contains the displayed results, not the original Excel formulas. Extracted values are written as cell content.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to Excel?
Not into editable text with this tool unless the scan already has a searchable text layer. OCR is required for image-only scans.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Not with this converter. Use an authorized method to remove the protection first, then select the unlocked PDF.
